Flavors of Thailand at Marriott Hotel Manila

One of the Asia’s most favorite cuisines, Thai food has been gaining popularity worldwide with its worth relishing tastes.  From August 1 to 31, satisfy your taste buds with a delicious showcase of authentic Thai dishes by Thai chef Thanathorn Krobsuay flown all the way from one of the most contemporary Marriott properties in Asia, the JW Marriott Bangkok. A Thai local himself, chef Krobsuay shares his sophisticated style and expertise in Thai cooking which never fails to mesmerize guests and capture the palates of discerning gourmands.

Start the adventure with a savory piping hot tom yam goong soup (spicy prawn soup with lemongrass and galangal) that will surely perk up the senses with its sweet and spicy broth.   Follow it with Som tum (spicy green papaya salad) a palate stimulating spicy salad starter made of shredded papaya, beans, and dried shrimp. Some of the classic main dishes include Thod mun pla (thai fish cakes with pickled cucumber) which is a marinated fried fish cake with green beans and herbs swathed in sweet and sour sauce, which remains a favorite tasty treat of Thais.  Featuring as well is the larb gai (minced chicken salad with mint and ground rice) enhanced with the natural flavors of lime juice and fish sauce. Another favorite is Pad Thai (stir fried noodle with seafood)  considered a national dish consists of fried noodles, eggs, been sprouts, shrimp, chicken, and tofu combined with oriental ingredients such as tamarind juice, hot chili, and fish sauce producing a nutty, pungent taste. To end a hot Thai feast, complete the meal with a refreshing kanom thai ruam (selections of Thai royal desserts) that has an amusing sweet and salty balance of tastes. Usually made of coconut milk based or sweet sticky rice, all desserts feature most piquant Asian ingredients and recipes.

Bring home the Flavors of Thailand as Chef Thanathorn conducts a free cooking class on August 12 at 2:30pm. Slots to the class are free by simply reserving at the Marriott Café reception and presenting a receipt.

Here’s more, diners who avail of the Flavors of Thailand buffet also get a chance to win a pair of roundtrip tickets to Thailand courtesy of the Thai Airways and Tourism Authority of Thailand. The prize trip includes a three-night stay with breakfast at the Rennaisance Koh Samui Resort and Spa Thailand.

The Flavors of Thailand will be available during lunch and dinner at PHP 1,350 nett for adults and PHP675 nett for children, while Sunday Brunch is at PHP 1,650 nett. Children below 12 get in for half the price and children below 6 get in for free!

A Taste of Thailand…at the Marriott Cafe

The Bloggers were invited to have a taste of fine Thai Cuisine from Marriott Cafe. We were welcomed by the delicious aroma of sumptuous phad thai that I can’t resist getting more thai fried rice with shrimp. Here are some of the pictures of the food that caught my attention.

To tell you honestly, I was not that confident at first to go to a Thai Food event because I am an I-can-eat-spaghetti-all-my-life-and -I-wont-complain kind of girl. I’m a little concerned that the flavors are too strong for my taste. But it actually turned out yummy that I kept on coming back to the food table to get more! The bloggers who are familiar with Thai food said that it seems like they toned down the spiciness of the food, something that catered perfectly to me. 😉
